Melbourne Park hosts the Australian Open each January and concerts at Rod Laver Arena and John Cain Arena all year. The precinct is next to the MCG, so on big nights the whole area is busy.
For a walk home after a late show, East Melbourne and Jolimont are the quietest option, the eastern CBD around Flinders and Exhibition streets has the most choice, and Richmond and Cremorne put you on the Swan Street dining strip.
Trams 70 and 75 run along Flinders Street and stop at Rod Laver Arena; the free CBD tram zone covers the city end. Richmond station and Jolimont station are each a short walk away.
